CharlynDerrick

Executive Producer / Partner, Modern Post

With over 20 years of experience as a producer, Charlyn Derrick was instrumental in transforming Modern Post from a boutique editorial shop of two to a full-service post production company, with a diverse roster and robust lineup of repeat clients including Vogue, Ralph Lauren, Zara and Calvin Klein. She unites a deep understanding of the creative process with a natural ability for building strong teams and creative company cultures. Throughout her career, she has produced numerous seminal campaigns, including a 20-minute short concert film for Arcade Fire in 2012 directed by Roman Coppola that aired ahead of SNL and featured cameos by James Franco, Bono and Micheel Cera.

A native New Yorker, Derrick graduated from New York University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Women’s Studies and Sociology, but quickly fell in love with the post production world through a happenstance internship and never looked back. She kicked off her career working in business development at a boutique sales rep firm before shifting to in-house at Consulate. She eagerly learned the ropes fast, steadily raising the ranks from Executive Assistant to Executive Producer in her 14 years with the post shop, working alongside such iconic directors as Sofia Coppola, Roman Coppola and Mario Sorrenti on a wide range of projects. After a brief stint working freelance for Rock Paper Scissors and Cutting Room Films, she reunited with former collaborator Neil Cooper and Will Town to join Modern Post in its early days. Outside of the studio, she enjoys spending time with her two sons.
