MIKELLE VIREY is a versatile, award-winning director, writer, and producer from Toronto, Canada, with artistic ADHD.
As a classically trained violinist (Suzuki) and pianist (Royal Conservatory of Music – Grade 10), he performed with the Halton Chamber Orchestra growing up and reached associate concertmaster before transitioning to drums, playing in several punk and metal bands performing in and around Toronto.
Since graduating from the University of Toronto (Theatre Performance & Classics), Virey considered a career in sound engineering and composing before deciding to attend Sheridan College (Advanced TV & Film), focusing on directing, screenwriting, and post-audio.
Virey has composed music for a few projects, including the animated short The Ballad of Amelia Von Earl and some tracks for the multi-award-winning web series Kid’s Town.
As a director, Virey has directed a variety of projects, including Kid’s Town, the sketch comedy series Hooracha!!! (nominated for Best Writing in a Comedy Series – LA WebFest), the experimental documentary One Pandemic Day (Silver Award – Spotlight Documentary Awards), the crime-thriller Bad Friends, and the documentary series Wild Archaeology (nominated for Best Factual Series – Canadian Screen Awards 2021).
His most recent work, Uncanceled, is a documentary about the false arrest of his best friend.
