Diego Garcia is a Mexican Director of Photography. He studied at the CCC Film School in Mexico City. Garcia first explored experimental B&W still photography, developing his work in a small darkroom.
He also began his career working on independent documentaries, where he learned to observe reality and use film language to translate it into images and poetry. He has collaborated on feature films with influential directors such as Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Nicolas Winding Refn, Carlos Reygadas, and Yorgos Lanthimos, with his films premiering at festivals worldwide.
Garcia was the first recipient of the Robby Müller Award in 2021. Following this, he worked on commercial projects with Daniel Wolfe and many others, allowing him to continue exploring visual language as a medium.
He is currently working on Kantemir Balagov’s next film.
