Director / Founder, WW7
David Shafei grew up in Hilton Hotels. He spent his elementary and high school years living in the Walt Disney World Hilton. That much Disney does something to a child. What exactly, we're all still figuring out.
He went on to attend Boston College and Loyola Law (law school being the fastest and most obvious route into directing). It was around then he started working in commercial and music video production, going on to direct music videos and branded content before helming his first commercials. As a commercial director, Shafei worked with brands including Oreo, PetCo, Dunkin’, Mountain Dew, Google, and iHOP, among many others. He has also had the privilege of working with major athletes and celebrities such as Megan Rapinoe, Marshawn Lynch, J.K. Simmons, Oscar Nunez, and Brad Garrett. His work has garnered every major award in advertising, including multiple Cannes Lions, One Shows, Clios, and Webbys.
For Shafei, comedy starts with the people. He loves actors, has a huge respect for their craft, and works closely with them to shape performances that are as organic and layered as they are funny.
He is co-founder of the production company World War Seven and considers himself a pretty nice guy. But don’t take his word for it. Here’s what verified Airbnb host Paolo had to say:
“Smart, fun and clean. It’s really nice to have David and family as guests. And he really loves to play with dogs.”
