Farhad Ghaderi is a Mexican-Iranian cinematographer based between Vancouver and Mexico City, working internationally across feature films, commercials, and music videos.
His narrative work has screened at festivals such as TIFF, SXSW, and AFI, earning nominations at Camerimage and winning accolades like the Canadian Society of Cinematographers Award (2019). As a director, he received a Gold Screen at the Cannes Young Director Award (2020). His commercial collaborations have screened at the Super Bowl and garnered awards at Cannes Lions, Clios, shots, and Ciclope, with clients including Google, Samsung, and Nike.
Ghaderi is drawn to stories centred on complex emotional characters, antiheroes, diasporic longing and joy, and racialised experiences of relationships and intimacy. His work is rooted in emotion, crafting images that are personal, evocative, and layered, balancing stylisation while serving the demands of the narrative.
He enjoys people-watching, cuddling cats, and the colour of asphalt in the summer around dusk.
