Managing Director, Barking Owl
Carol Dunn joins Barking Owl as Managing Director after having served for over 20 years as a West Coast Executive Producer at several leading music houses, where she continues to spearhead creative partnerships and oversaw audio production for commercials, film, and TV, managing teams of composers and producers on projects for brands such as Squarespace, Nike, Etsy, Samsung, and Uber.
Dunn’s extensive music career spans over 30 years, with her very first role being a switchboard operator at Capitol Records, where she serendipitously later became Head of Film & TV. Dunn’s passion for music and film, coupled with her inquisitive nature, helped her transition to producing notable soundtracks under the tutelage of renowned music supervisor Karyn Rachtman, contributing to films such as Boogie Nights, Stealing Beauty, Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet, Bulworth, Rugrats I & II, and Office Space.
With the evolution of music delivery moving from physical media to digital streams and downloads, Dunn dove into sync for songwriters before transitioning to the advertising side of the industry. She has garnered awards with almost every music house she's been associated with, including Cannes Lions Gold and Grand Prix prizes, as well as being voted Music Company and Sound Company of the Year.
Dunn envisions music as another character in the film, thus driving her passion for storytelling in audio post-production for commercials.
Beyond her production work in growing Barking Owl into the most trusted audio partner to the world's best companies, she is dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion within the advertising industry.
