Marcel Ziul is the Founder and Executive Creative Director at State.
Beginning his career just outside São Paulo in Brazil around 2000, Ziul quickly immersed himself in a world of creativity and innovation. As he travelled across the country, he collaborated with some of the most talented local artists and clients. Yet by 2006, the urge for reinvention became too tempting—propelling him to reset his life and career entirely.
After years of refining his craft in both inspiring and challenging studio environments, Ziul took the leap and relocated to Los Angeles. There, he founded his own studio called State, creating a space where he could redefine the creative process on his own terms while setting new standards for collaboration and excellence.
Today, Ziul partners with top-tier talent and globally recognized brands. His impressive portfolio includes bespoke projects for industry giants such as Google, NFL, Under Armour, ESPN, Electronic Arts, Amazon, FX, Facebook, UFC, Apple, and Nike. Since 2014, his work with his team at State has earned numerous prestigious accolades—including honors from PromaxBDA, MTV VMA, and Emmy Awards—cementing his reputation as a visionary creative director.
Ziul’s notable portfolio and his willingness to express vulnerability through his craft, have also made him a highly sought-after speaker at renowned creativity conferences worldwide, such as OFFF Barcelona/Sevilla/Tel Aviv/Mexico, Graphika Manila, Node Fest Melbourne, and Anymotion in São Paulo.
He is also the co-founder of R&D Los Angeles, a monthly conference that embraces the motion design community on the West Coast.
