WENDELL HANES is a multi-Award Winning Music Composer and owner of VOLITION SOUND and received EMMY AWARD consideration for OUTSTANDING MUSIC and LYRICS on the
EMMY NOMINATED NETFLIX sitcom FAMILY REUNION for which he is both music composer and music supervisor on. Hanes also scored Lisa Cortes and Farah X's 6 time Award Winning NETFLIX documentary THE REMIX: HIP HOP X FASHION, the NBC PEACOCK streaming documentary, “THE SIT IN: HARRY BELAFONTE HOSTS THE TONIGHT SHOW” and the HULU documentary “THE KILLING OF BREONNA TAYLOR.” He scored the theme for the 2020 NBA FINALS. His current projects include he anticipated feature doc, “ZAGARIS”, the orchestrated theme for the NBA FINALS and the animated feature film “JG AND THE BG KIDS.”
In 2018 Hanes scored Oscar directors James Cameron and Louie Psihoyos's film THE GAME CHANGERS which was submitted for the 2020 OSCARS. Hanes is also known for having produced and arranged ESPN'S flagship musical themes for SPORTSCENTER, NFL COUNTDOWN, COLLEGE GAMEDAY, THE NBA, and HIGH NOON. He has won every major award in Advertising including CLIOS, CANNES LIONS, EFFIES, ADDY'S, LONDON INTERNATIONAL AWARDS, ANDY'S, ONE SHOWS, and GOLDEN AWARD of MONTREAUX'S. He has consistently created music for DISNEY and ABC.
With over 2,000 commercials and 40 Films scored and another 30 music supervised, Hanes has become a trailblazer when it comes to composing to picture. His company VOLITION SOUND is responsible for having created the unique sound for every major brand and network from McDONALDS to PEPSI to HBO and SHOWTIME.
Hanes' strong team of VOLITION composers have had major placements in Feature Films Vicki Christina Barcelona and Get Rich or Die Tryin' as well as records on albums for 50 Cent, Jay Z, Mary J Blige, Usher, and Beyonce. Hanes even brought his classical scoring and sound design talents to the world of HIP HOP by working on projects for rappers LIL WAYNE, DRAKE, FUTURE, NIKKI MINAJ and YO GOTTI.
Hanes scores director Jude Johnson's NETFLIX Christian feature film “FRESHMAN YEAR” which Hanes won a VEGAS MOVIE AWARD for Outstanding Composing and was nominated for Best Score.
Hanes is also a gifted song writer having written and produced over 30 songs for the new NETFLIX sitcom FAMILY REUNION and produced singles for 3 Time Grammy Nominated artist RAHEEM DEVAUGHN, MYA, BLACKSHEEP, Q TIP, THE BEATNUTS, and BRAND NUBIAN. Hanes' versatility is his biggest strength having an ear for creating music in a multitude of genres has helped his company cross all mediums from TV to FILM to ADVERTISING and to RECORDS.
