Partner & Executive Producer, Merman
Spencer works for the BAFTA-winning production company Merman as a Partner and Executive Producer within their commercial division, managing the advertising careers of seminal directors including Declan Lowney, Martin Krejci, Juliet May, MJ Delaney and Guy Manwaring.
Immersed on-set from a young age, Spencer has worked within the creative industries for over 20 years, having first cut his teeth as a runner and assistant director for both feature film and commercials before going on to produce iconic ads for heavyweight directors including Frank Budgen, Vince Squibb, Chris Palmer and Johnny Green.
Prior to joining Merman in 2019, Spencer spent 9 years as Managing Director and Executive Producer at The Sweet Shop, firmly establishing the New Zealand owned production company’s offering within the European market. And previously, he spent 9 years at Gorgeous Enterprises as a producer, helping to propel some of the greatest creative minds to have emerged from the UK.
In addition, Spencer is on the APA council and has judged at the D&AD Awards, the Young Director Awards in Cannes and A List Hollywood Awards.
He resides in Surrey with his wife and two teenage daughters.
