HunterDaly

Director of Photography

Hunter Daly works as a Director of Photography (DoP) in the advertising, film and tv industry and is based in London, UK.

Upon graduating with a Law degree from the London School of Economics (LSE), Hunter pursued his interest in film to train under an esteemed set of mentors in the lighting and camera department, first as an electrician for gaffers such as Julian White (Crazy Rich Asians, The Martian, A Midnight Sky) and later gaffering for DoPs such as Nicolas Karakatsanis (I, Tonya, The Drop) and Phillip Blaubach BSC (Bridgerton), before stepping up to HoD in 2016.

In the 5 years since, Hunter has risen fast and worked in over 15 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas with the top production companies, shooting conventional advertising as well as narrative short films for internationally recognised brands and Oscar and Grammy Award winning singers such as Sam Smith.

A keen observer and constant learner, Hunter is versatile and an asset to directors and productions not only technically but humanistically, and understands cutting edge game engine rendering technologies as well as 'traditional' formats such as 35mm and 16mm. Hunter holds Irish and US dual citizenship, which gives him convenient access to the US and EU markets, and is a long time resident of London. As of 2021, Hunter is taking a Masters in Law during his time off from shooting.
