Founder and Executive Producer of Groundglass in Cape Town, one of South Africas top production companies founded in 2001, Janette de Villiers has over 35 years experience in film and commercials she is one of the industry’s most prominent figures.
Having produced for and collaborated with various award winning South African directors, and servicing some of the world’s most renowned international directors, Janette has an exceptional knowledge of the film and advertising world and is one of the country’s leading producers.
Ultimately Janette is passionate about sharing her skills with others in the industry to help put the South African Film industry on the global map., Janette is tireless in her endeavour to uncover and develop new talent.
One of her latest endeavours around education and sustainably have her being part of the ACE program, an initiative alongside the South African Film Academy, empowering (local) film production companies to employ & involve Film Students and Alumni’s in order to created work experience.
With strong views on social responsibility and the necessity to create a sustainable advertising industry she is also very interested in finding ways to keep our footprint as filmmakers small and efficient
