Even before being born, Charles Monnet’s ears were already being shaped through movement and music while his mother was teaching ballet in the Marais district of Paris. Since his father was a film producer, it seemed his career path in advertising and film scoring was set. Charles began playing piano at a young age and went on to study in several renowned institutes such as the Paris Conservatory, the CIM (Jazz school), and the Sorbonne University. He honed his professional skills playing in piano bars, dance classes, and teaching piano as well as composing for short films. He then spent two years learning sound design and mixing in an editing company in Los Angeles before venturing to Shanghai where he worked as in-house composer at Green United Music (Shanghai) for three years. Soon after, he and his brother started their own award-winning audio post-production company, Big Knows, working with prestigious agencies and productions such as Wieden + Kennedy, TBWA, Stink, Eagle Media, composing, editing and mixing for world renowned brands such as Nike, Ikea, Audi, Mercedes, AirBnb and more… Having composed for three feature films as well as a Netflix TV series, Charles has extensive experience in every aspect of the audio post-production world.
