Casting Director
'Casting Director' may be the official title, but Mel prefers to think of herself as a collaborator, host, observer, researcher, negotiator, problem solver, investigator and team player. Maybe also add magician. With a quick calculation, Mel’s casting career - spanning over 3 decades - has afforded her the opportunity to conduct over 150,000 auditions and she still gets a kick out of saying ‘action’ and ‘cut’. She was a founding member of the 'Casting Guild of Australia’ in 2013 and has worked on both the Executive Committee and TVC committee since it began. Mel believes casting is a critical component to the success of compelling story telling, and has both an innate and qualified understanding of the skills required to finding the perfect cast for any project.
